Warm Up Week: 10,000 Steps Challenge

It’s my ‘warm-up’ week as I get started with my new goal of 10,000 steps daily.

Official count starts tomorrow, May 1st. That’s about 6-7 km on my regular walking pace if I do it in one go. Not difficult when nicer weather with Spring and Summer is up ahead.

I’ve reached my previous goal of walking outdoors consistently for 100 days since the year started, so now I’m challenging myself with a doable health target.

What prompted this, you ask? Nothing major, really. I need to shed some of the unhealthy habits and lifestyle patterns accumulated over the Winter months, and it is harder to get back on track, health-wise, in your 40s unless it is intentional and you commit to doing the work.

Walking outdoors daily, which was my goal during the wintertime, was mostly for my mental health as a remote worker. This new goal is to return to a level of physical fitness acceptable for my age.

Yes, walking for weightloss still works, along with eating healthy and/or mindfully.
