Day 198 Y25 Thought of the Day_Genuine Interest

Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.

Passion is a force on its own. What others may think of as ‘talent’, is simply focused attention on something that we are genuinely interested in.

When we are genuinely interested in something, we dedicate our time and energy to learn more about it. We get better at it not because we were forced to, but because we wanted to.

Our brain comes alive with the excitement of doing the things we are passionate about. We consume the knowledge that goes with it, the dots connecting in our minds without us realizing it.

I find this to be true with my passion for writing. Some people tell me that I seem to have a natural talent for it. They ask if I struggle to find the words when I write about a subject matter.

Often, when a thought hits me profoundly, it prompts me to write about it. I find the time to do so even with just an initial draft.

However, refining those thoughts to be clearer and more concise required discipline and continuous improvement.

I spent time and effort on learning the ways to write more effectively and hone the skill that goes with it. My vocabulary widened as I read about things that are of interest to me, and over time it made it easier to transpose them to my writing style.

The happiness I feel whenever I revisit what I’ve written prods me to write more of them.

Genuine interest in an endeavor is personal. It cannot be forced or faked. We can only feign interest to a certain extent, but if we are not interested enough, we easily lose motivation to pursue it.

The things that ignite our passion may not be as exciting to others as it is to us, and that’s okay. That’s what makes it unique to us. The energy that comes from it is what pushes us forward, and that is what makes it worthwhile.
