Day 192 Y25 Thought of the Day_Keep Going

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

Theodore Roosevelt

It’s about making the most of your situation, regardless of perceived limitations or obstacles. It encourages being proactive in improving one’s circumstances instead of waiting for ideal conditions.

I find this to be sound advice. More than once it has helped me push through many anxiety-ridden moments in my life.

One such hurdle was the recent upheaval at my workplace due to organizational restructuring. This created uncertainty and concern about job security.

Another was my well-laid plans for permanent residency. They went down the drain due to the rapid changes in federal policies. This was a result of a shift in immigration priorities.

It took me a while to regain my footing with all that was going on. I procrastinated and felt lost on what to do next due to the discouragement I was feeling.

As they say, if you can’t change your circumstances, change your thinking.

Eventually, I came to my senses that I have to keep moving ahead. I accepted the reality of how these changes are impacting my life and I need to adjust to them.

I looked for small wins in the every day. I focused my efforts on the things I can control. There’s still a long way to go, but at least I’m doing something to get there.
